I hope you all are having a great summer! I feel like once we get beyond July 4 life becomes a downward slide to end of summer and start of school! Along with the fast paced summer comes the desire that your child will be ready for school in September. Do you have concerns that were arising last year? Give it some thought this summer. I see a lot of issues in the classroom that are related to behavior. Are behavior charts used in your child's classroom? Do you see success? Sadly they many times are not successful! Why? Because behavior is communication around needed support! So many times our kids with ADHD fall through cracks and are not understood! They struggle with executive functioning deficits including planning, transitions, emotional regulation, initiation, and organization. Imagine struggling and being expected to keep up in the classroom? Certainly negative behavior is a probable result.
